Our new single Coolatai Waltz heads out to radio and digital through Checked Label Services on 9th May. The song was written for a wedding in Coolatai NSW in 2019, weaving a ‘tale tales and true' story of the couple’s romance through the town’s landmarks and local legends.
Coolatai is famous for its legendary black panther and signature events such as the Coolatai Races and Coolatai Vintage Tractor Pull. All of these are fondly featured in the song, along with the Wallaroo Hotel, the local hall, church, and sportsground, and nearby towns in the New England North West Slopes.
Kym Watling sings and plays bass, fiddle, and banjo, with Geoffrey Bates on guitars and backing vocals. Scott French guests on drums, with ex-Texas (Qld.) local Christopher Ridgway on mandolin from Amesville Ohio, USA.
Coolatai Waltz was engineered and mixed by Scott French at Lovestreet Studios, mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th & Vine Post, written and produced by Watling & Bates, with pre-production by Thor Phillips.
Coolatai Waltz and its flipside Prophets are the first singles from our forthcoming album.
